Water and Rust is a local group, the guitarist leads worship at our church. Fun to see him interact with different folks, different music.
Loving the Labor Day weekend. Friday night I played with the grandkids ... they are so much fun! We watched a bit of Batman, had dinner, swam in the pool. On Saturday our local theater offered a romantic movie with afternoon tea, complete with 3 specialty teas, and plate a tea treats! My husband was a good sport, allowed me to swoon over Christopher Reeves in Somewhere in Time. Sunday, after church, we headed to Stubbs BBQ for their Gospel Brunch. We enjoyed various tasty foods including brisket and listened to an ol' time gospel group called the Bells of Joy! Today the kids and grandkids came over. Our son made brick grilled chicken ... and it was yummy. And now, I'm looking at this bag of school work ... hmmm, choosing to blog instead of digging in!
I gave notes on transforming functions on Friday. We were short on time, so students didn't apply the notes. I have a self-correcting circuit planned and a group activity called, "Move the Monster." But I think before they dive into either of those activities we need to illustrate those notes just a bit. I wish they had their laptops already (those are coming in the next week or two). I need to get them involved in making sense of those notes.
I'm feeling quite full after a big weekend with lots of tasty foods. I know I need a plan for breakfast and lunch - real food, healthy, and definitely easy, easy to to make the morning prep go well. And I need to lose 10 pounds. I need to lose more than that, but I would be ecstatic with the 10. I'm thinking I need to focus on fruits and veggies ... fresh, colorful, and .... not my favorite!
We finished the first week of school and I feel like I am behind, and planning all the time. I am working with a new team, and my classroom is in a different building than theirs. So ... I need a way to communicate better, and a way to get comfortable with our routines. (PLCs are very strong in our school ... we plan as a group ... which can definitely be a plus and has some minor drawbacks!)
A BIG goal of mine this month is to turn my computer off by 9:15 and spend that last hour relaxing with
books for fun! I used to love to read, and I want to find that pleasure again.
So ... I'm liking my first Currently!
Beth
I understand working all hours of the day and night, I think it will work out after I'm in a routine but right now It's crazy!! I have a goal to read for pleasure as well, doesn't happen much throughout the school year, but I am going to try!
ReplyDeleteGood Luck!

The Resource(ful) Room
Hi Amy - thanks for stopping by. Last week I picked up my Kindle as I went to bed - read for 10 minutes before closing my eyes. But I know I would rest better/enjoy a bit more relaxation if I would put this computer aside a bit earlier! Hope it works out for you.
DeleteWell, I was a secondary teacher for one year...so that counts...:) Nice to meet you! Currently is a lot of fun! I am loving your goal of turning the computer off by 9:15 and reading a book. I am going to try to do that myself. I have so many books I want to read, but spend too much time online. Thanks for the inspiration...:)

Keep Calm and Imagine
Hi Vicky ... blessings right back at you! Can't wait to hear how the purposeful relaxation works out for you!
DeleteYay Beth! I did my first Currently also. As for your team, can you guys use Google to help you plan? Hangouts instead of face to face meetings and docs to share stuff?
ReplyDeleteI'd love to turn my computer off at 9:15 too, but can't on Monday because of #msmathchat! Will try that Tues-Sunday!!!
Hi Robin ... love your website ... so glad you stopped by. I'm going to try to listen in to the mathchat tonight ... I'm central time so it fits in my evening but I so often forget. And I'm not on twitter yet ... that's a new trick this older dog hasn't learned yet!
DeleteWe have google hangout this year ... we just need to learn it! Thanks for the suggestion :)
